Do you know which are the 5 necessary nutrients for our nutrition?

Nutrition is A and Z not only for surviving and covering the dietary needs but for the prevention of any disease. Good nutrition is balanced with variety and a limit in consuming all foods.

Studies frequently highlight the importance of good nutrition in preventing several disorders as well its contribution in treating diseases and its progress.

What should our nutrition contain in order to be balanced and provide health and wellbeing?
There are several nutrients which are necessary for everyday life in order to cover the dietary necessities of the human and prevent the appearance of any disorder.
Those are:

Carbohydrates

Proteins

Lipids

Metals

Trace elements

Carbohydrates
They are of high importance to the organism due to the energy that the provide. Apart from that, they also work as glycogen storage in emergency cases for the body. Carbohydrates are divided into two basic categories, the simple and complex ones.
The simple carbohydrates are:

Fruits

White products

Any sugar forms

They are digested immediately from our organism and cause rapid increase in blood sugar levels. The complex carbohydrates are the one suggested by doctors for treating and preventing several diseases.
In the complex carbohydrates belong all the products that haven’t been processed such as:

Flour

Wholegrain products and cereals

Oatmeal

These foods gradually release energy and they do not affect sugar levels.

Proteins
Proteins are important as well not for their energy but mainly because they contribute in repairing damages caused every day in the tissues. Proteins increase the feeling of fullness so that we feel full faster and keep us that way for a long time.
Proteins are found:

Dairy products

Meat

Fish

Poultry

Legumes

Lipids
Lipids are the fundamental substance of cell membranes due to their insulation and protection ability. They are found in two forms; liquid as oils and solid as butter and margarines.
Mediterranean diet has been recognised globally as the best nutrient model of humans as the only lipid used is olive oil. Indeed, olive oil is an extraordinary lipid, full in unsaturated fatty acids and mainly in elain acid. Why shouldn’t we use it in our nutrition and in our salads?

Metals and trace elements
Another category of essential nutrients are metals and trace elements.
The most known metals and trace elements:

Calcium

Magnesium

Potassium

Sodium

Phosphorus etc.

These substances are offered in the organism in order to be used in several metabolic activities of the cells and replenish any absence that might exist. It is important to be administered in small quantities as in larger ones they are toxic.

Natural fibres & water
Two other substances that shouldn’t been missing from everyday nutrition are natural fibres and water.
Natural fibres are found in fruits and vegetables and they cause fullness as they also help in the normal function of digestive system. They are also found in cereals such as oatmeal and they remove any excess of processed food from the organism.
Lastly, water is necessary for survival and maintenance of life. The human body consists of 70-75% of water. Water provides hydration, removes any toxins from the body while it participates in several metabolic activities that take place in the cells. The consumption of water depends on a person’s dietary needs, physical activity and environmental factors although 2 litres of water every day is the indicated intake. Apart from water, consuming liquids such as drinking tea and eating soups are also necessary to keep the body hydrated.

#extra trivia
Water is found also in fruits and vegetables which should be consumed daily!

Include in your nutrition Spiroulina PLATENSIS
Spiroulina PLATENSIS is a pure food ideal supplement for every organism.
It consists a variety of important substances, among those:

Proteins, which provide energy,

Iron, which provide boosting

Fatty acids

Metals and trace elements

And other necessary substances for our wellbeing

*We would like to thank Miss Stauroula Gounari for the help, Dietician-Nutritionist, MSc.

Good nutrition is the one that consists the consumption of all food.
